Four nourishing oils—shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil, and castor oil—are saponified cold and then cured for at least 6 weeks. During that curing process, \u003cstrong\u003enatural glycerin\u003c\/strong\u003e is created and stays in the soap. This is something that is removed from industrial soap. In the cold process method, plant-based oils and butters are saponified cold with lye (sodium hydroxide). During saponification, the oils turn into soap and glycerin. The lye reacts completely and no lye remains in the final product.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfter pouring and cutting, the soap cures for at least 6 weeks. During this time, the soap hardens, the pH becomes milder, and the texture develops.
