Natural Deodorant Winter Wonder

A natural deodorant does not stop you sweating, but it does counteract odour. A small amount, about the size of a pea, is usually enough. Applying too much has the opposite effect: it absorbs less well and can irritate or leave marks on your clothes.

Apply it to clean, dry skin and let it absorb for a moment before getting dressed. In hot weather or during exercise, you may need to reapply later in the day. Clothing made of cotton, bamboo or wool breathes better than synthetic fabric and holds less odour.

Natural deodorant does not block your sweat glands, but it does counteract odour. If you are switching from an antiperspirant, your skin needs a few weeks to adjust. That period is usually over after two to four weeks.

A slight tingling feeling at the start is often part of it too and settles down after a few days. If the irritation persists, it may be down to the fragrance. The Naturel line version is then the mildest choice: it contains no added fragrances.

Better to wait a few hours, and with sensitive skin two to three days. Right after shaving your skin is extra sensitive and deodorant can sting or cause redness. If you shave in the evening, you can usually apply it again as normal the next morning.
