Deodorant vs. antiperspirant: what is the difference?
Many people use the terms “deodorant” and “antiperspirant” interchangeably, but they work in fundamentally different ways.
An antiperspirant contains aluminum salts (such as aluminum chloride) that temporarily block the sweat glands. You sweat less, but your body can no longer eliminate sweat in its natural way. A deodorant does not block sweating. Instead, it neutralizes the bacteria that cause body odor. Your body continues to perspire naturally, but it doesn’t smell.

Why do people choose a deodorant without aluminum salts?
The reasons vary, but the most frequently mentioned are:
A conscious choice for milder ingredients. Many people simply want to know what they are putting on their skin and prefer plant-based ingredients over synthetic salts.
Less irritation. Aluminum salts and baking soda can cause irritation in sensitive skin: red bumps, itching, or a burning sensation. Our deodorants contain neither.
Letting your body do what it was made for. Sweating is a natural process that helps your body regulate its temperature. A deodorant without aluminum salts does not block that process; it just ensures that it doesn’t smell.

How does Beesha’s natural deodorant work?
The formula contains plant-based ingredients that neutralize odor-causing bacteria. The base is coconut oil and shea butter. Coconut oil has natural antibacterial properties, while shea butter soothes the skin. Plus, you can choose from 12 scents, ranging from pure essential oils (lavender, peppermint, orange) to fragrance oils (coconut & papaya, passion fruit, mysterious oud).
Important: our deodorant also contains no baking soda. Baking soda is used in many natural deodorants but can cause irritation to sensitive skin. Beesha consciously avoids using it.
The switch: what can you expect?
This is the part that most blogs skip, but it is the most important. If you are switching from an antiperspirant (with aluminum salts) to a natural deodorant, you will go through a transition period of 1 to 2 weeks. Here is what happens:
Week 1: Your body is used to having its sweat glands blocked. Now that this has stopped, you may temporarily sweat more or smell different than you are used to. That is normal. Your body is re-regulating itself.
Week 2: Most people notice that sweating normalizes and the natural deodorant does its job well. Your underarm skin often feels softer and less irritated than before.
After 2 weeks: The transition period is over. Most customers find they sweat less than expected and that the deodorant keeps them fresh all day long.
Tips for a smooth transition: apply the deodorant to clean, dry skin. Use a small amount; a little goes a long way. And give it time. The first week is not representative of the final result.

Yes, for most people it does. The formula effectively neutralizes odor-causing bacteria. During intense exercise, you might need to reapply, so take the tin with you.
Will I sweat more without aluminum salts?
Not necessarily. An antiperspirant blocks sweating; a deodorant doesn't. But that doesn’t mean you suddenly sweat much more. After the transition period, things normalize. Many customers notice that the difference is smaller than expected.
Is the deodorant suitable for sensitive skin?
