Productomschrijving

Konjac Sponge Red Clay: Gentle Cleansing with a Healthy Glow

An ultra-soft sponge that cleanses your face, removes dead skin cells and leaves the skin soft and fresh. With the caring properties of red clay. Reviewers confirm it: "result: much softer face", "makes the skin softer" and "blissfully soft on the face".

Why Red Clay?

Red clay (also known as iron oxide clay) is the same clay we use in our Red Clay Mask. In the Konjac sponge it adds an extra layer of care:

🔴 Mild cleansing: Red clay helps cleanse the skin gently without drying it out.

🔴 Gentle exfoliation: Removes dead skin cells and impurities in a gentle way.

🔴 Cared-for feeling: After use the skin feels soft, smooth and fresh.

What is a Konjac sponge?

A Konjac sponge is made from the root of the Konjac plant from Asia. The root is dried and processed into a fibre-rich sponge that is naturally soft, mild and lightly exfoliating. In Japan the Konjac sponge has been used for facial care for more than a century, originally for babies' delicate skin.

How do you use the Konjac Sponge?

  1. Soak the sponge under running water until it feels soft and flexible (about 1 minute).
  2. Massage gently over your face and décolletage in circular motions, with or without cleanser. The sponge also works perfectly well with water alone.
  3. Rinse well after use and squeeze out excess water.
  4. Hang up to dry in a well-ventilated spot.

💡 The sponge is hard when dry. That is normal, as soon as you wet it, it becomes soft and flexible again.

💡 Drying can be tricky. One reviewer mentions that drying is sometimes slow. Tip: hang the sponge by its string in a spot with good air circulation, not in a closed bathroom cabinet.

💡 Replace after 1 to 2 months. The sponge itself is purely plant-based (konjac root) and can go in the organic waste after use.

💡 Combine with a clay mask. Use the sponge to apply or rinse off your Red Clay Mask for an extra soft result.

Who is this Konjac sponge for?

  • All skin types: from dry to oily, from normal to sensitive
  • Anyone who wants a gentle, daily facial cleanse without harsh scrubs
  • Anyone with sensitive skin looking for mild exfoliation
  • As a gift: one reviewer: "lovely to give as a gift"
  • Anyone looking for a plastic-free alternative to flannels or synthetic sponges

Frequently asked questions about this product

What is a konjac sponge and what do I use it for?

A soft sponge made from the fibre of the konjac root. Once wet it becomes very soft and cleanses your face with a light exfoliation, without harsh grains. You do not need any extra cleanser, just warm water. Also for removing make-up.

The sponge is fully plant-based and suitable for daily use, including for sensitive or blemish-prone skin. There are several versions, each tailored to different skin types.

A sponge lasts about one to two months. After that it shrivels up and you can simply put it in the compost bin. View the konjac sponges.

How do I use a konjac sponge?

First soak the sponge in water for a few minutes until it is soft and supple. Squeeze it out and massage over your face in gentle, circular motions. Then rinse it out and hang it up to dry in an airy spot.

How long does a konjac sponge last?

About two to three months with daily use. Replace it sooner if it starts to fray or no longer dries properly. Because the sponge is made from plant fibres, it can go in the compost bin.

In what order do I use my facial care products?

Work from thin to thick: cleanse first, then a mask if you like, followed by serum and finally a cream or oil. During the day, finish with sun protection.
