A Beesha Shampoo Bar may lather less if you live in or are vacationing in an area with hard tap water.
Hard water means that the water contains a high amount of limescale. You will notice a white haze on your glasses or residue in your sink more quickly. Limescale also builds up more easily on your faucets and dishes.
Additionally, limescale also affects the lathering of certain products. Think, for example, of dish soap, but also shampoo.
Lather is created by an ingredient called sulfate, such as Sodium Coco Sulfate (SCS). These are super-degreasers: ideal for doing the dishes, but very bad for your scalp and skin. Because we make our shampoo without sulfates, they naturally lather much less. In combination with hard water, the high amount of limescale can make them lather even less effectively.
If you still want to use a shampoo bar despite having hard water in your region, this does not have to be a problem. A lot of lather is not necessary to get your hair clean anyway. But do you prefer a head full of lather? Keep a bottle of cooled, boiled water in your shower. Boiled water has lost a large portion of its limescale. By wetting your shampoo bar with boiled water, you will still get the desired lather.
