What is Keratin?
In the past, keratin treatments were made from human hair. That is no longer allowed (human hair consists of 85-90% keratin on average). Keratin is a protein produced by the body. A building block for hair, skin, and nails.
Most keratin treatments are done with animal proteins. There are two types of keratin derived from animals:
a-Keratin: derived from vertebrates.
b-Keratin: derived from reptiles and birds.
What is plant-based Keratin?
In our Shampoo Bars and Conditioner Bars, we use plant-based keratin. This keratin is based on Corn, Soy, and Wheat protein. This keratin improves the elasticity of your hair and helps to prevent split ends. It creates a layer over your hair that helps it retain moisture better. Your hair regains its beautiful natural shine.
The INCI for the plant-based keratin we use is Hydrolyzed Corn Protein, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein
For animal keratin, it is Hydrolyzed Keratin.
