That is a beautiful thought. But where do you start? Most changes begin with a first step and good information.
Every minute, a garbage truck full of plastic waste ends up in our oceans. About 94% ends up on the seabed, 1% keeps floating around, and 5% washes ashore. For example, the uninhabited Henderson Island is one of the most remote islands in the world, but not from plastic. Per square meter, you will find 671 pieces of plastic there. The amount of plastic you find in our oceans is, therefore, almost impossible to imagine.
Did you know that 1 plastic bottle can still be found in nature after 500 years? Perhaps even longer... because they haven't been around for that long. Scientists even think they never decay. That is why it is so important to keep our plastic use to a minimum. In an average household with 2 adults and 2 teenagers, there are on average 16!! plastic bottles in the bathroom, each for a different purpose. And only 1 in 5 plastic bottles is actually recycled. Is there anything to be done about the plastic soup? Initiatives like The Ocean Cleanup cannot do anything about the massive production of plastic. As long as companies produce more and more plastic, it is like mopping with the tap running. We will only solve the plastic soup if companies first turn off the tap and fundamentally change their way of production. We at Beesha started without the plastic tap. So there is no need to turn it off. We are small compared to the multinationals. But I always say, “Every little bit helps.” That is why we make our products plastic-free. What is a Shampoo Bar?
A Shampoo Bar is shampoo in a solid, compact form. A normal bottle of shampoo consists mostly of water; a shampoo bar consists only of the active ingredients. Our shampoo bars are specially formulated with natural vegetable oils, cocoa butter, and essential oils that nourish your hair and scalp. With 1 shampoo bar, you can wash your hair on average 80 times, which is roughly equivalent to 2 to 3 plastic bottles of shampoo. Because a Shampoo Bar is very compact, it takes up little space. You can easily take it with you on trips because it requires little space in your suitcase. And because it contains no liquids, you can take it in your carry-on luggage on the plane.
No sulfates in a Shampoo Bar.
A good reason to choose a Shampoo Bar from Beesha is that they are free of sulfates such as Sodium Coco Sulfate (SCS) or sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). But what are sulfates actually? Sulfates are a compound that consists of acid residues of sulfuric acid (used in batteries, accumulators, and drain cleaner) and their salts. It produces fine foam and degreases, but it is primarily cheap. But there are also disadvantages: it causes dryness, an increased chance of irritation, and above all, it is harmful to the environment. Instead of Sodium Coco Sulfate (SCS) or sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), Beesha uses the product Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI). Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is made from coconuts. By using SCI, the environment is less burdened than with SCS or SLS. It is therefore completely plant-based and not as aggressive to your skin and hair as sulfates.

Microplastics are very small particles of plastic that have ended up in the environment. They range from microscopic to a few millimeters in size. They are common in cosmetics and cleaning products, for example as a scrubbing agent. It is almost invisible to the naked eye. It also cannot be filtered out. It ends up in our oceans through groundwater and rivers, where marine animals ingest it. As a result, it ends up in our food chain and we eventually ingest it through food. Beesha finds the well-being of plants and animals very important. The Shampoo Bar from Beesha is 100% Vegan. That means there are no animal products such as honey, beeswax, wool fat, or anything similar in it. And all our products are not tested on animals and are therefore cruelty-free.
