What exactly are sulfates?
Sulfates, such as Sodium Coco Sulfate (SCS) or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), are compounds consisting of sulfuric acid residues and their salts. They consist of a water-soluble part and an oil-soluble part. The oil-soluble part attaches to dirt, and then the water-soluble part ensures that the dirt dissolves in water. SCS and SLS are widely used in liquid shampoo and in some brands of Shampoo Bars.
SCS and SLS have advantages: they produce a fine lather, degrease, and are above all inexpensive. But there are also disadvantages: they are drying, increase the risk of irritation, and are primarily harmful to the environment. At Beesha, we use Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI). This is a base for our bars that contains no sulfates. It is much milder and does not dry out the hair. Plus, it is environmentally friendly. It is made from coconut.
Sulfates are often the cause of dandruff and an itchy, irritated scalp. This is because they are aggressive cleansing agents that can dry out your skin. Many people with dandruff and a sensitive scalp benefit from sulfate-free Shampoo Bars. After using a sulfate-free shampoo, the scalp is much calmer and less irritated. And after a few weeks, dandruff is already significantly reduced or has disappeared completely.
Anti-Dandruff Shampoo Bars
The great thing about a Beesha Shampoo Bar is that they are all suitable for treating dandruff. Because our Shampoo Bar is so mild, you don't need a special (chemical) formula to treat dandruff. This allows you to choose your Shampoo Bar based on hair type. www.beesha.nl
